A tribute to Queen like no other
OSU’s Marching Band do it again with a Queen tribute this time.
The Ohio State University Marching Band just delivered another visually appealing, auditory satisfying performance at the university’s first football game. The band are known for their mesmerizing shows over the years and now they pulled off another one with a tribute to Queen.
I was glued to my screen and headphones during the entire 9:29 minutes of the video which shows the band members as they transition from one formation to the other and from song to song. They launched with the historic “We Will Rock You,” which is a sports anthem by now and followed it by “Fat Bottomed Girls,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” and “Bicycle Race” before finishing off with the iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
As they went from track to track, their movements flowed from spelling the name of the band during “Fat Bottomed Girls” to two racing bicycles and even displayed the famous Freddy Mercury mic stand. The big finale included displaying a picture of the members of the band before holding a giant banner with the name Queen spelled over it between two giant guitars.
The show was simply breathtaking and I can’t imagine what the people on the field felt like to see it happen in front of their eyes. I hope they were singing along!
This isn’t OSU’s Marching Band first time doing something as grandiose as they previously paid tribute to Michael Jackson by preforming his tracks as well as soundtracks from some of our favorite Disney movies in addition to blockbusters like Superman and Jurassic Park.
If you’re a Queen fan, this will definitely be a treat to your eyes and ears to keep you busy until the movie Bohemian Rhapsody drops later this year; October 24, to be exact. The trailer teases that it’s going to be huge!
