John Legend, EGOT, joins The Voice 16
John Legend is joining The Voice and that sounds like long overdue!
The Voice is a talent show loved by millions. John Legend is an artist loved by millions. The two parties are now officially joined as John Legend was announced as a coach for the show’s 16th edition. John joins Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Kelly Clarkson in the big red chairs from where he will launch into coaching his team. The singer came super prepared and already pushing his hashtag #TeamJL.
“I’m thrilled to join the coaches of The Voice. I’ve been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times and I’m so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL.”
Oh we are ready! We have been ready our entire lives!
There are many reasons why I’m excited about this, mainly because John is a great artist who has proved his talent time and time again. He achieved EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) status after he recently won an Emmy for producing Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. He previously won an Oscar for the track “Glory” from the movie Selma, 2015. His shelves also include 10 Grammys (until now) and a Tony Award from 2017 when he was behind the production of August Wilson’s Jitney. He is now the first African American to reach this status and he joins a very few number of people who have achieved it; only 15 artists including John have won the four major awards. Can you imagine?
If someone knows music, it’s the Legend. Season 16 of The Voice isn’t until next year as now we have season 15 with Jennifer Hudson and the trio John is joining.
