Your sad playlist contribution
The Virgin Radio Lebanon blog is up and ready for your suggestions and contributions. Today’s entry is something we all need to have in a folder somewhere on standby. It’s the ultimate break-up playlist that allows us to wallow and indulge in sadness and melancholy until the phase is over. Break ups are never easy and almost everyone I know relies on music to help them move on.
Even if you’re not going through a tough break up, the following playlist is a good tear-jerker if you’re in one of those moods where you just want to cry or you’re one of those people who love to listen to sad songs when you’re in a good mood. In short, these 8 songs are a great addition to your library.
Cherry Wine (live) by Hozier
“Cherry Wine” is one of the most touching tracks I’ve heard. It addresses abusive relationships, something you can see clearly in the video. It brings me to tears every time I listen to it. However, our recommendation of the track is the live version, which brings Hozier raw vocal talents to the foreground.
Strangers by Passenger
Passenger, Michael Rosenberg, is known for his heart-wrenching voice, which penetrates your soul and being like no one else. Among his many tracks, “Strangers” is the recommended song as it discusses the post-breakup stage where we go searching for meaning in different places while longing for the place we know it used to be.
Rootless Tree By Damien Rice
Damien Rice is the tortured soul every broken-heart turns to. His songs are a raw journey of emotion and “Rootless Tree” is lyrically one of my favorites. This one is maybe the angriest on this list.
Youth By Daughter
Daughter’s masterpiece “Youth” was featured in too many movies and shows to even count but since it was featured on “Grey’s Anatomy,” you know it belongs on this list.
Digital Kids by Victor Taiwo ft Solomon
Now this is the track for your “I feel alone in the world” phase. I hadn’t heard this one before but I’m glad I found it. Just remember that you’re never alone!
I Gave You All by Mumford and Sons
This one comes in for the beginning of acceptance mixed in with anger phase. It has a faster pace than the rest but still fits the criteria to be part of this playlist.
I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bon Iver
This piano ballad is for when you need a really tight hug and it doesn’t make sense unless one person hugs you.
Bang Bang Cover by Kaleo
Kaleo have many many incredible songs and I have to thank “Suits” for bringing them to my attention. The cover of “Bang Bang” is an incredible rendition of the track and something you have to listen to.
Their “I Can’t Go On Without You” also has a place on this list.
